This site has been put together by Kylie Walters as an aid for the teaching of sexual consent during Stage 4 or 5 PDHPE curriculum.You can use the site as in-class interactive activities, as self-paced learning or as a resource collection.
What skills and knowledge will be acquired...
The topic of sexual consent is a contentious one and not always clear to some teenagers. This site aims to inform teenagers of the nature of consent so that they can make choices that are responsible and healthy for all concerned. Along the way, students will gain skills in asserting their consent and making safe choices. |

Objectives of this site...
The objective of this site is to proved some interactive activities that aid in the teachinn of sexual consent to teenagers during PDHPE stubjects. The activities can be applied to the following curriculum points, or where considered appropriate:
4.3 describes the qualities of positive relationships and strategies to address the abuse of power
4.12 assesses risk and social influences and reflects on personal experience to make informed decisions
4.13 demonstrates cooperation and support of others in social, recreational and other group contexts
5.3 analyses factors that contribute to positive, inclusive and satisfying relationships
5.6 analyses attitudes, behaviours and consequences related to health issues affecting young people
5.11 adapts and evaluates communication skills and strategies to justify opinions, ideas and feelings in increasingly complex situations
5.16 predicts potential problems and develops, justifies and evaluates solutions
What you get in each activity...

Discussion Forum - students discuss the statement "They were drunk but they didn’t say No, so it is ok to have sex with
them” and write their answers on a Google Groups wiki. Students will have to apply for group membership to add their comments. Each student will have to create a Google account (free) if they do not already own one.
- Insight program - Ideally this should be the starting point for the activities. It is a showing of the Insight Program, that discusses a sexual consent case. Click the link provided to watch the story then think about your viewpoint.
- Poster No means no! - Students must use the phrase No Means No! to produce a Microsoft Publisher A3 poster They then email the poster to the teacher.
- Quiz Am I ready for sex? - This is an activity created to prompt the students to thinking about the issues and questions that they must consider before making a decision to have sex. It uses Flash, so this must be installed on the computer. The student clicks the true or false button to indicate their answer.
- Crossword - This activity should be done after the jargon surrounding sexual issues has been discussed and defined. The student will click on any box of the word they choose and the corresponding question will appear.
- Sven Callaway Show - This is an activity that has been sourced from http://www.acceleration.com.au/elearning/talkshow/main.htm and takes the form of an interview with four people concerning sexual issues. Students are to click the logo to watch the interviews, then complete ONE of the activities provided. They must produce a podcast of their response to the activity.
- Make a movie - Students are to use Microsoft Movie Maker to produce a news program alerting teenagers to the issue surrounding sexual consent. They can investigate the site Reach Out to inform themselves of the issues. This is ideally a group activity.
- Sexual diseases wiki - Each student must investigate one sexually transmitted disease and write their findings to the wiki site provided. The teacher can provide the topic of investigation is needed.
- Webquest - In groups, students must investigate and produce a solution to a given situation. They must complete one of the activities as directed by their teacher.
